Italian man left paralysed as a teen after unprovoked attack in Dublin has tragically died
The Turin native, who had never been abroad before, was mindlessly struck over the head by a bottle-wielding thug in Dublin's Fairview Park and never recovered from his injuries.
An Italian man who was left paraplegic after an unprovoked bottle attack in Dublin in 1999 has died after suffering a cardiac arrest.

In 2001 James Osbourne, then aged 31, from East Wall in Dublin, was jailed for eight-and-a-half years for the life-changing assault on Guido. He was released in 2008. Mr Nasi told Dublin Circuit Court his experience was "a nightmare from which I try to wake myself".
In the near-fatal attack at Annesley Bridge Road in Marino, Mr Nasi suffered a blood clot under his skull which caused near-fatal damage and permanent injuries after he confronted a boy over the disappearance of his wallet.
Mr Nasi spent two weeks in Beaumont Hospital before being transferred in a coma by air-ambulance back to his home city Turin in Italy. A medical expert described his condition as irreversible.
During the sentencing hearing of Osbourne at Dublin Circuit Court in 2001, Detective Sergeant William McKenna told Mr Patrick Gageby, SC, prosecuting, that Mr Nasi, who was in Ireland for the summer to learn English, and some Italian friends were playing with a ball and drinking some wine in Fairview Park on the night of the incident.
A few boys, aged around 14 to 15, joined them in playing with the ball.
After a while the boys left and Mr Nasi noticed his wallet was missing. Det Sgt McKenna said Mr Nasi ran after the boys, caught up with one of them and demanded his wallet back.
Two other youths then came along and attempted to prevent him from holding on to the boy. He received a couple of blows to the head and face but managed to free himself and pursued the boys again.
He caught up with them on Annesley Bridge Road. He grabbed another boy and said he would call the gardai.
Det Sgt McKenna said Osbourne then arrived on the scene. Mr Nasi told him the situation and Osbourne told the boy, who denied taking the wallet, to run off because of the threat of the gardai arriving.
Mr Nasi let the boy go and turned away from Osbourne, who then hit him over the head with a half-full bottle of Budweiser, causing him to hit his head off the pavement.
A number of people witnessed the attack and Det Sgt McKenna said Mr Nasi would have been very recognisable at the time he was over six foot and had long dreadlocked hair, similar to that of the late reggae singer Bob Marley.
Det Sgt McKenna said Mr Nasi was taken to the Mater hospital a little dazed but well enough to walk.
His condition deteriorated significantly around midnight and he was transferred to Beaumont to be operated on.
Osbourne was arrested on August 6, 1999. He never denied the attack but initially refused to answer any questions on the advice of his solicitor.
