Quentin, a 23-year-old French activist, died from his injuries caused by a brutal attack in Lyon. Beaten unconscious on February 12th, he was treated in a coma in a critical condition before he succumbed to his injuries.
The attack took place near the Institute of Political Studies in Lyon, where a demonstration was held in connection with an event attended by Rima Hassan, a La France Insoumise member of the European Parliament.
According to reports, tensions arose between members of an activist group called Némésis—which regularly organises protests against what it calls the “Islamist left” in French universities—and anti-fascist groups, which later escalated into violence. Quentin took on an informal security role and tried to protect female activists when the incident occurred.
According to eyewitnesses, the young man and his companion were followed by an Antifa-style group, who then attacked them in a side street. Quentin suffered serious head injuries, lost consciousness, and was taken to hospital in critical condition, where he was diagnosed with a brain hemorrhage. His condition was initially described as “between life and death,” but he later died from his injuries.
